Ghost created a strong identity that communicated “Eastern Medicine” without coming out and saying it. We created a right-aligned word mark as a nod to traditional Japanese writing (which is read right-to-left), and we used a light, almost pastel color scheme to differentiate flavors and contrast with the dark, custom type we created for the name. We used a brushed calligraphy kanji as the mark, which is Japanese for “grass.” Its roughened edges and placement extending off the side gives the brand an organic and distinctive feel.
